don't be a hater

Okay. Vent session.
I have this pet peeve.
Haters. You know? Haters always voice their negative opinions so strongly.
Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you have to preach against it.
It's like the Biebs. You can't deny the kid has talent.
You don't have to love the Biebs. You don't ever have to listen to him.. but that doesn't mean you have to go around telling everyone that he sucks and spend your life trying to convince others that he has no talent by creating hating fb pages and what not. Serious. I worked with a few people this summer that spent their days trying to convince me how terrible he was.
It drove me crazy. Not saying everyone has to like the Biebs. People have their opinions, that's cool.
Just don't dedicate your life to trying to convince everyone that you are right.
It happens with a lot of things, and it has really started to drive me crazy.
Country music another example.
Have you ever noticed that if someone doesn't like country music.. they constantly criticize it and always speak out about how much they hate it and how terrible it is?
You always know a country music hater.
I don't like lots of styles of music. Does that matter?
Nope.
The list just goes on and on.
Breaking Dawn is my newest example.
A lot of people just aren't fans of the Twilight Saga.
That's cool. No one said you have to be into that sorta thing.
Yeah, I get that its kinda annoying how some people just take everything one step too far.
Hype kinda drives me nuts too...
but its not affecting me.
Let people get all excited. It's not hurting anyone.
A lot of people hated the movie. That's fine.
But I find it so frustrating when I log into facebook or sign on to twitter and find a million status updates or tweets about how terrible the movie was.
Find something better to do with your time then convince the world how terrible it was.
The world has enough negativity.
Keep your mouth shut and let those who enjoyed it, enjoy it in peace.
I, happened to LOVE Breaking Dawn.
The movies just keep getting better and better.
And the soundtrack! Oh my. It was fabulous.
And Edward. He is just getting better looking.
I was absolutely thrilled the entire time.
Since when is hating the cool thing to do?
I feel like that is what the world is coming to.
I swear, half the haters out there just hate to be different from everyone else.
So many people think its cool to be different, which it is, that they hate because it puts the fans down.
No doubt when I love something and someone hates it it kinda makes me feel like crap.
But whatever. I love the Biebs, and country music, and Breaking Dawn. End of story

Now, everyone doesn't have to agree with me. I don't mind. And yes, I understand it goes both ways. Haters hate seeing all over facebook and twitter how incredible it was when they really thought it was terrible. But hey, at least if the haters keep their mouths shut it makes the world a lot more positive right?
Pretty sure we got enough negativity to last and the world can use a little more optimism.
That is all.

  2. I have to disagree with you here. Now don't get me wrong, there's definitely a wrong way to voice your opinions, but that doesn't mean you can't voice them at all. I could be slightly bias, because as you know, I have a continuous informal essay blog devoted to explaining why Twilight is isn't what it's marked up to be. But I wouldn't call myself a hater. I have extensive evidence to back me up, it's not like I'm hating just to hate. I just happen to have opinions, and just want to share them. It's just for fun.

I don't have a problem with people who like it. In fact, some of my best friends love it. I agree that the world would be more optimistic without hating…but I think it's okay to disagree (as you mentioned) and speak up once and a while about why you don't like something. Granted, it may not be the best idea to go as far as creating facebook pages devoted to hating, and attacking those who like it is also a bad idea, but I think that constructive criticism is always okay :)

  3. Rachel - Be excited! I thought it was fabulous! =)

Lex - I love your opinions. Thanks for sharing! Although I am a Twilight fan, I love reading your informal essay about Twilight. Your thoughts are brilliant and in most cases I find myself agreeing with you. Thanks for the comment!

  4. i personally am not a j.b. or twilight fan, but i do agree with what you're saying here.

it seems the people who just hate them are focusing on the fact that they think they downright suck, and that you *have* to like what they like otherwise they'll hate you too. it can be for many other things as well. like my choices of music. i don't do much rock/pop/hip-hop/rap or anything like that, i'm much more of a softer, relaxing music person. and i adore soundtrack. but my friends {or associates for that matter} think i'm insane for it. that i have no taste, and probably won't make it in the social community. but i have a different way of expressing, myself, and though they do too, i don't think they had to slam it on me that way.
i personally don't have anything against people, i mean they have their own opinions, but to throw it in someones face and demand that they like it is just too much.

so, though you and i have different likes and not-likes, i whole-heartedly agree with you. great post :))

  5. I agree so much. I think I've written a few blogs about this even. It's SO ANNOYING how it becomes "cool" to tear famous people down. Especially, like, Disney stars. Sure, don't like them... but hating them does nothing but make you look stupid. Miley Cyrus is famous and you aren't, no matter how much you think she sucks. Get. Over. It.

  6. agreed...especially on the country music part. i get so tired of it. ive been listening to country music since i was born and loving every minute of it. i dont try to make you love country music so why are you trying to convince me to hate it? i just smile and let them ramble on and say something like "cool thanks" when theyre done. then they feel stupid hahaha its pretty great :)

  7. i agree so very much on everything you said. Why must people feel that they are saving me from wasting my love for something that should be hated. It's so irritating. Why can't I love and dislike what I want?— Why can't I be different? oh well haters will be haters, and unfortunately were never gonna be able to get rid of them.

  8. I agree about the HATERS part, but mostly care about hating on people who are close to us and not necessarily famous people or general categories. Why can't we be happy for someone who has something that we want or is doing something we hope to do someday or even someone who has accomplished something? If you are a hater of these types of things it most definitely means you are jealous! Sometimes a hard lesson to learn, but I think it is worth it.
